The perks of living in Richmond, VA go beyond the beauty of Richmond homes for sale.
Our real estate agents point to the strong economy and vibrant community as two of the most important reasons to give serious thought to Richmond.
Richmond's premier business-boosting and downtown improvement organization, RVA, is always finding new ways to foster togetherness and keep things interesting in the city. You'll see their handiwork everywhere you look: Including in a thriving local music scene.
In fact, one of RVA's most popular initiatives is about to rev up for the year.
It's called Friday Cheers, and it's one of the longest-running RVA-sponsored events.
Friday Cheers has been running consistently for 34 years now. It launches every year on the first Friday of May and continues all through June.
But exactly what is Friday Cheers? It's one of the best family-friendly music showcases around!
Attracting talent from all throughout Virginia and the United States, this is the one and only summer concert series held right along the James River. Traditionally, it has drawn anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 attendees every weekend.
It all takes place on beautiful Brown's Island, a picturesque park-like environment situated between the major Richmond landmarks of the Canal Walk and James River.
Children under 12 are admitted free; adults pay either $5 or $10 depending on the show.

The complete Friday Cheers schedule is available online and it promises to be a memorable one.
Everything kicks off at 6:30 with Devon Gilfillian and the chart-topping Valerie June. Fresh from a trip to Japan, June was recently featured as a recommended artist on Oprah.com. She brings her unique, soulful vocals to the stage, mixed with funky blues-folk melodies.
RVA Music Night on May 25th will also be a great time to pop in. This spectacular evening will be completely focused on Richmond-area bands with a fresh sound. The headliners include Dharma Bombs, Butcher Brown, and Pirahna Rama.
With five whole Fridays in June, the fun gets to carry on until the big weekend before the 4th of July. On June 29th, Friday Cheers will be getting a big sendoff thanks to Charley Crockett and the Turnpike Troubadours, an Oklahoma-based country western group.

We hope you'll have the opportunity to enjoy everything Friday Cheers has to offer. If you want to be smack in the middle of a welcoming and wonderful community all year around, it's time to give Richmond a closer look – and Napier ERA can help.
