Fireworks Richmond

Independence Day is one of Richmond's most cherished celebrations, where patriotic spirit meets community fun in a big way. And let's be honest, no Fourth of July celebration feels complete without a grand finale lighting up the sky. Luckily, Richmond and the surrounding communities offer a fantastic lineup of fireworks displays and family-friendly events that make the holiday unforgettable. Our real estate agents give you the lowdown on some of their favorite Independence Day events.

  • Fireworks on the James River - Forest Hill Park, 4021 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, VA 23225
Avoid the crowds as you take in your own private Fourth of July show, just minutes from Richmond homes for sale, with Fireworks on the James River. Board the shuttle at Forest Hill Park for the trip to the departure point, about four miles upriver. From there, paddle your raft to a deserted island in the middle of the river where you can relax before a catered dinner. As darkness descends, watch fireworks light up the sky before heading back. The four-hour excursion begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, 7/4, and tickets are $150.

  • Star-Spangled Squirrels Fest - The Diamond, 3001 N. Arthur Ashe Jr. Blvd., Richmond, VA 23230
Does it get more traditional than baseball and fireworks on the Fourth of July? Kick off your holiday weekend watching the Richmond Flying Squirrels take on the Chesapeake Baysox in the inaugural Star-Spangled Squirrels Fest. Root, root, root for the home team and (hopefully) celebrate a big win with a post-game dueling fireworks show. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, 7/3, and tickets are $10.

  • Fourth of July Celebration - Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832
There's something for the whole family at the annual Fourth of July Celebration, not far from Chesterfield County homes for sale. The Kids' Zone keeps the little ones active while Mom and Dad enjoy live music and other special entertainment acts. Food vendors will be on hand with meals, snacks, and beverages for purchase as you get ready for spectacular fireworks at dark. Festivities start at 5 p.m. and admission is free.

  • Red, White, and Lights - Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23060
Red, White, and Lights, held near Glen Allen homes for sale, puts a contemporary twist on the traditional fireworks show. The dog-friendly event has a distinct patriotic theme, with historical reenactments of America's road to independence and the Richmond Symphony playing classic songs. The evening closes with a stunning finale of a laser light show. Hours are 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday, 7/4, and admission is free.

  • Dogwood Dell Fourth of July Celebration - Byrd Park, 600 S. Arthur Ashe Jr. Blvd., Richmond, VA 23220
For the 68th year, RVA's favorite open-air venue hosts the popular Dogwood Dell Fourth of July Celebration. As part of the city's Festival of Arts, the holiday event showcases some of the top local and regional musical talent. This year's lineup for "The Big Show" includes Full Spectrum, a lively rock band comprised of seven musicians whose day job is serving our country as members of the military at Langley Air Force Base. There will also be performances by the Virginia Opera and the Richmond Concert Band, all leading up to an exciting fireworks show to cap off the evening. Showtime is 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 7/4, and admission is free.
